Project Seikai

Kaley's Cast Pi-chi's Cast
Tezuka Yukimura
Sanada Oishi
Yanagi Kikumaru
Inui Kaidoh
Akaya Tamagawa
Jackal Marui
Niou Yagyuu
Kawamura Fuji
Momoshiro Echizen

Room List:
1. Yukimura-Tezuka
2. Inui-Yanagi-Akaya-Kaidoh
3. Niou-Yagyuu-Fuji-Kawamura
4. Marui-Eiji-Momoshiro-Jackal
5. Sanada-Echizen-Oishi-Tamagawa

Seikai means "correct"

General schedule:
Day 1 - arrive, settle in, shenanigans, YukiTez co-op leadership
Days 2-4 - Seigaku-style training under Tez-Oishi (Rikkai: "That's it?")
Days 5-7 - Rikkai-style training under Yuki-Sana + doubles boot camp (Seigaku: /DEAD)
Days 8-12 - Kouhai captains training for being a captain, managing leadership, assigning training, and determining order for the matches
Days 13-14 - practice matches between two kouhai teams, winding down

Schedule Notes:
  • Rikkai's training weights given to Seigaku for Days 5-7
  • DOUBLES BOOTCAMP FOR SEIGAKU: GP is honorary Rikkais for this, Rikkai 2nd years demoted to Seigaku in exchange. Start off with Akaya/Kaidoh vs Tamagawa/Echizen then GP vs PP for contrast. How not to doubles. HOW TO DOUBLES.
  • someone complains it's not fair to expect any of them to be able to play at the level of famous combos like those two pairs
  • and then "Challenge accepted: Eiji/Jackal and Marui/Oishi will be the doubles pairs" (Imagine wonder castle with moon volley OW)
  • For Kouhai practice days: in the spirit of all of this collaboration and teamwork, the schools have also been split so each team is half Seigaku and half Rikkai, with Yuki and Tez assigning them out so each one is more or less balanced. e.g. if one team gets the golden pair, the other team gets platinum pair

CR Ideas:
  • Seigaku ??? at Tamagawa ALL THE INTRODUCTIONS
  • Tezuka & Tamagawa, mentoring on how there's another way to lead from Yukimura's style and it's okay to have your own
  • Sanada attempts no pillow fighting rule, is overruled by collective mutiny
  • VC Commisseration, Oishi trying to figure out how Sanada commands so much respect (probably doesn't like what he sees)
  • data & kouhai room to be a slightly awkward thing like dating single parents trying to get their kids to get along
  • Sanada judging Seigaku, asking Oishi why he isn't taking any of Tezuka's responsibility to lessen his burden and actually Inui should step up too, since he's like a low-rent Renji
  • diving into Tez's feelings: Tezuka had to wait for Nationals bc he was the only one on Big 3's level, could not do as quickly what Yukimura did with Rikkai. Fuji's lack of motivation not helping, Yamato's curse with telling Tezuka to be the pillar (do it alone)
  • Marui, Jackal, & Taka-san in charge of cooking the meals
  • Someone getting sick from eating wild berries or mushrooms
  • Oishi being resident doctor for someone
  • Niou and an accomplice troll Akaya about the need to perform an exorcism on him
  • Sanada and Tezuka fishing together (someone discover the Oishi lure, please)
  • General development of admiration/appreciation for opposite team's captain (read: Yukimura harem intensifies)

Shenanigans Go Here:
  • pillow fights, duh
  • ghost stories
  • prank wars
  • Marui and Momo team-up for fridge raid at midnight
  • Akaya and Kaidoh losing sleep over ___ (Niou and Seigaku coconspirator as possible culprit)
  • Yukimura sleepwalking
  • Mouri & Yamato gatecrashing
  • Atobe gatecrash, inserting himself into captains' room (Yukimura and Tezuka settle the results of their bet on how long it would take Atobe to do this)
  • Illusion antics, Niou or Yags or both??
  • Taka-san racket mode
  • Niou and Kaidoh adopted by feral cat
  • competition for who has the strongest heat tolerance in their food (Seigaku collectively backs away from Fuji)

Misc Character notes:
  • It was Tezuka's rule that all rooms must be co-school so Rikkai can't clique
  • Tamagawa to get mentorship helping him see he's a Seigaku at heart there are more ways to effectively lead than Yukimura's and Sanada's drill sergeant terrorism & it's ok to have his own style (that was actually why Yukimura agreed to his request to do this)
  • Yukimura's revenge against Seigaku is to be the merciless military leader he is for his portion of the captain demo and sit back and schadenfreude the other days where everyone else makes an attempt

"Why me?!" Jackal yelped, dropping Marui's luggage close enough to the fire that Niou started to look hopeful.

"Ridiculous," Sanada muttered, crossing his arms, while Yanagi bent to examine Momo prone on the ground.

"From your bragging, I expected him to lose consciousness point two-six seconds sooner, Sadaharu... You need to start accounting for the fact that they're building up a resistance..."

"Hold up, resistance?!" Akaya exclaimed. "You're saying this'll be worse for us?"

Like a phantom, Fuji appears behind Akaya with a pleasant and none trustworthy smile.

"How about it? Is it working now?" He asks in a callback to his earlier question.

"You have to drink it too!!" Akaya said defensively, once he'd jumped a whole foot in the air in shock.

"Akaya, stop being disrespectful and get on with it," Sanada groused.

"Yes, I'm looking forward to it."

Pickled vegetables as the base. Inui overdid the acidity based on Momo's reaction. That's the foundation of the drink's terror.

The burning shouldn't be a problem. But he should avoid seconds and drink plenty of water later to rehydrate.

Inui muttered something about Fuji that could have been either admiring or insulting-- it depended on your temperament and the time of day. But Yanagi wasn't interested.

"Akaya, stop being a pest. Seiichi, Genichirou, and I are going to be annoyed if you delay this any further."

Jackal grimaced. He wasn't the one being nagged, but he also knew who had to set the example and who'd be blamed if the example wasn't good enough, so he quickly shotgunned his portion and grimaced harder.

His last conscious thought was that Inui hadn't said nearly enough about Fuji.

Fuji watched Marui's expression shift to unease as even Jackal fell to the noxious beverage. Two down now. Who was next?

"Marui," Yukimura prompted, and there was no room for negotiation in the command. Marui grimaced again, voiced a noise of disgust as he took the drink, and moved over by Jackal's limp form so as to have something soft to land on as he collapsed with a choked-out "Mazu...!"

Sensing his moment, Fuji stepped forward and accepted his glass. The vinegar was certainly potent. He held his breath while drinking, allowing none of the fumes into his nasal passage. Even with that, and his usual high tolerance for intolerable heat, his eyes stung by the time he finished the glass. Truly a formidable drink; Inui wasn't messing around with practice penalties this trip. Fuji plastered a big smile across his face and let out a satisfied sigh.

"How refreshing! This cleared my sinuses beautifully."

"Your eyes are watering, Fuji-senpai."

...Count on Echizen to call him out like a punk. Without faltering, Fuji turned to look at Echizen and sounded his agreement.

"That's how you know it's effective."

Akaya felt himself break out into a sweat. There was no room left to dither, and both Yanagi and the vice-captain were clearly losing patience, and the captain straight up said for a whole bunch of extra people to do it and any resentment he had of Momoshiro trying to trick him was kinda neatly done away with by Yukimura-buchou's cold ruthlessness and and and he had the glass in his hand and wasn't Akaya at least... well, almost as strong as Fuji? He'd given a Fuji a serious run for his money, hadn't--

"Akaya," came Sanada's growl and Akaya gulped. In the end, fukubuchou was scarier than Inui-san, and he gulped again, this time with the quickly-cooling drink in his mouth and had just enough time to gag.

Yukimura picks up Marui's bag before it has a chance to catch fire and sets it to rest on top of him, which of course is on top of Jackal.

"All right: those that remain, the cabin is just ahead. We'll--"

Whatever Yukimura said after that was lost to Fuji as his stomach twisted violently and his heart gave a dramatic thump. Suddenly everything was spinning and he felt very, very ill.

Without even the capacity to excuse himself, he covered his mouth and dashed for the closest bushes, making it just in time to spare everyone the sight of his stomach rejecting Inui's latest invention as quickly as it had been forced to greet it.

"Fuji...!" Oishi and Eiji cried in unison, and it wasn't clear whether Eiji's horror was out of concern for his friend or the dawning comprehension of just how scary this new drink had to be if even Fuji couldn't handle it.

Kawamura jogged over, but hid his grimace at Fuji's predicament. Inui, maybe you've gone too far.

"Need someone to hold your hair back?" Kawamura asked, soft enough for only Fuji to hear, paired with a hand to the shoulder.

Niou pounced then, sliding a pack of gum out of Marui's pocket and walking it to Fuji.

"This is going to be more fun than I anticipated," he admitted, eyes gleaming dangerously. "Only give it back when you're done. I want to hide it under Akaya's pillow... Puri."

Sanada, satisfied (and grudgingly impressed) that Fuji yet lived, turned back to the business at hand.

"Tamagawa, Kaidoh, Echizen! Get these carcasses into their beds."

"Now, hold on," Kawamura called over. "Sanada, I can do that. Just a moment."

"Your kouhai don't need to be babied anymore than mine do," Sanada countered.

"I...I'm okay," Fuji rasped out to Kawamura with the same lower volume, but comforted by Kawamura's gentle hand and discretion more than he could ever put into words. He was a good friend. "Sorry to concern you."

The burn in his mouth and throat he could handle. The sting of humiliation, on the other hand... Fuji felt his strength returning purely on fury over his wounded pride, and a refusal to allow himself to look any weaker than he already did (never mind that he was already the only one to stay conscious through the drink). He would not allow himself to be a burden on the others.

He wiped his mouth on the back of his wrist and pushed himself back up to his feet.

"Thanks," he said to Niou as he accepted and pocketed the gum with no intention of chewing any-- at least not right now. He'd decide what to do with it later.

Tamagawa responded first to Sanada's orders with a squawked "Y-yes!", squatting just enough to scoop Marui off of Jackal (after relocating the bag to the ground beside them) into a bridal carry. Marui and Jackal had taught him so many things. He owed them both so much. He could only carry one of them, though. The least he could do was to do so with the utmost care.

Kaidoh's glare at Momoshiro could have burned through steel as he approached him. It took him a moment to school himself from the temptation to grab him up by the lapels and shake him through a barrage of yelling.

"You idiot. Look at the trouble you've caused." And he hefted Momoshiro over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. He'd never admit that there was never a question in his mind who he was going to carry back.

Echizen hesitated, seeing two problems with these instructions. "Um. There are two carcasses here."

"That last one is mine, Echizen." Fuji explained. "Right, Sanada-san?"

"Do as you like," Sanada said, turning back on the victims and heading towards the campsite. His participation in this particular farce had reached the limit he was prepared for.

Yanagi, meanwhile, elbowed Inui.

"Put the notebook away before Fuji sees you," he hissed.

Kawamura looked again at the unconscious forms of Kirihara and Kuwahara.

"I can get at least one of them," he said.

"I'm not going to override Sanada," was all Tezuka had to say. That would come tomorrow.

Whether that was the intended solution or not was of course beside the point to both of them. Fuji had his own agenda to push. First and foremost was image recovery. Showing the strength to still carry one of the others back would temper the unsightliness of his stomach's failure to handle Inui's drink, and it was a logical measure of accountability on the theme of additional burdens to those placing last.

But he understood Kawamura as well. He lacked confidence in his value to the team, and these acts of support were where he drew his sense of usefulness. He wanted to be helpful here, too.

"Taka-san?" He started as he knelt by Akaya and picked him up with a perhaps surprising level of care. "Maybe you can help carry the backpacks?" Sanada hadn't said anything about who had to carry those, after all.

Cradling Akaya against his chest, Fuji looked up in search of Inui with a flash in his eyes. This was not over.

Even Echizen knew better than to register the other problem he saw with this arrangement after Fuji stepped up and claimed one of them.

Well. It would make him stronger, right?

Kneeling by the last remaining victim, he made several attempts to shift Jackal's weight from the ground to himself, each one more awkward than the one before. It wasn't just an issue of weight, but of size. Jackal was tall and muscular; Echizen was... still growing. How was he going to do this?

Standing back up, Echizen looked at the limp body and frowned in thought. Finally, he settled for hunching down at Jackal's shoulders and picking him halfway up under the arms, dragging him backwards for the cabin.
