Project Seikai: Settling In
Kaley's Cast | Pi-chi's Cast |
Tezuka | Yukimura |
Sanada | Oishi |
Yanagi | Kikumaru |
Inui | Kaidoh |
Akaya | Tamagawa |
Jackal | Marui |
Niou | Yagyuu |
Kawamura | Fuji |
Momoshiro | Echizen |
Room List:
1. Yukimura-Tezuka
2. Inui-Yanagi-Akaya-Kaidoh
3. Niou-Yagyuu-Fuji-Kawamura
4. Marui-Eiji-Momoshiro-Jackal
5. Sanada-Echizen-Oishi-Tamagawa
Seikai means "correct"
General schedule:
Day 1 - arrive, settle in, shenanigans, YukiTez co-op leadership
Days 2-4 - Seigaku-style training under Tez-Oishi (Rikkai: "That's it?")
Days 5-7 - Rikkai-style training under Yuki-Sana + doubles boot camp (Seigaku: /DEAD)
Days 8-12 - Kouhai captains training for being a captain, managing leadership, assigning training, and determining order for the matches
Days 13-14 - practice matches between two kouhai teams, winding down
Schedule Notes:
- Rikkai's training weights given to Seigaku for Days 5-7
- DOUBLES BOOTCAMP FOR SEIGAKU: GP is honorary Rikkais for this, Rikkai 2nd years demoted to Seigaku in exchange. Start off with Akaya/Kaidoh vs Tamagawa/Echizen then GP vs PP for contrast. How not to doubles. HOW TO DOUBLES.
- someone complains it's not fair to expect any of them to be able to play at the level of famous combos like those two pairs
- and then "Challenge accepted: Eiji/Jackal and Marui/Oishi will be the doubles pairs" (Imagine wonder castle with moon volley OW)
- For Kouhai practice days: in the spirit of all of this collaboration and teamwork, the schools have also been split so each team is half Seigaku and half Rikkai, with Yuki and Tez assigning them out so each one is more or less balanced. e.g. if one team gets the golden pair, the other team gets platinum pair
CR Ideas:
- Seigaku ??? at Tamagawa ALL THE INTRODUCTIONS
- Tezuka & Tamagawa, mentoring on how there's another way to lead from Yukimura's style and it's okay to have your own
- Sanada attempts no pillow fighting rule, is overruled by collective mutiny
- VC Commisseration, Oishi trying to figure out how Sanada commands so much respect (probably doesn't like what he sees)
- data & kouhai room to be a slightly awkward thing like dating single parents trying to get their kids to get along
- Sanada judging Seigaku, asking Oishi why he isn't taking any of Tezuka's responsibility to lessen his burden and actually Inui should step up too, since he's like a low-rent Renji
- diving into Tez's feelings: Tezuka had to wait for Nationals bc he was the only one on Big 3's level, could not do as quickly what Yukimura did with Rikkai. Fuji's lack of motivation not helping, Yamato's curse with telling Tezuka to be the pillar (do it alone)
- Marui, Jackal, & Taka-san in charge of cooking the meals
- Someone getting sick from eating wild berries or mushrooms
- Oishi being resident doctor for someone
- Niou and an accomplice troll Akaya about the need to perform an exorcism on him
- Sanada and Tezuka fishing together (someone discover the Oishi lure, please)
- General development of admiration/appreciation for opposite team's captain (read: Yukimura harem intensifies)
Shenanigans Go Here:
- pillow fights, duh
- ghost stories
- prank wars
- Marui and Momo team-up for fridge raid at midnight
- Akaya and Kaidoh losing sleep over ___ (Niou and Seigaku coconspirator as possible culprit)
- Yukimura sleepwalking
- Mouri & Yamato gatecrashing
- Atobe gatecrash, inserting himself into captains' room (Yukimura and Tezuka settle the results of their bet on how long it would take Atobe to do this)
- Illusion antics, Niou or Yags or both??
- Taka-san racket mode
- Niou and Kaidoh adopted by feral cat
- competition for who has the strongest heat tolerance in their food (Seigaku collectively backs away from Fuji)
Misc Character notes:
- It was Tezuka's rule that all rooms must be co-school so Rikkai can't clique
- Tamagawa to get mentorship helping him see
he's a Seigaku at heartthere are more ways to effectively lead than Yukimura's and Sanada's drill sergeant terrorism & it's ok to have his own style (that was actually why Yukimura agreed to his request to do this) - Yukimura's revenge against Seigaku is to be the merciless military leader he is for his portion of the captain demo and sit back and schadenfreude the other days where everyone else makes an attempt

Most of the others have gone on ahead, and any who have offered to help have been told he's fine. It could have been a lot closer, but Echizen won't be the one to wimp out on the task he's been given. Kuwahara's shoes are getting dirty, but he can't help that.
He reaches the steps to the front decking of the lodge, a wrap-around structure with a couple of small sitting areas. Echizen backs up two of the steps and tugs against Kuwahara to drag him up the stairs.
"Ah-- wait!!"
The voice isn't familiar and nothing says it's for him, so Echizen continues about his business until the thumping of feet is right by and then right past him and stopping at Kuwahara's legs, lifting them at the ankles. Echizen finally recognizes it's the white-haired Rikkai underclassman that had picked up Marui. He smiles a little too enthusiastically for Echizen to find authentic.
"Kuwahara-senpai's difficult to lift alone. I'll help."
He's already got the legs off the ground; it'd be weird to tell him to drop them when the help meant Kuwahara getting less scraped up and dirty. Slightly peeved over the hit to his ego but unable to complain about it, Echizen drops his head and mutters a "Thanks."
He won't admit it, but it is much easier once he has help. Once inside, the Rikkai guides them to a staircase that leads to a common area with four identical bedrooms and a communal bathroom, each bedroom bearing a sign with four names. Assigned rooms, huh? Echizen notices with some disappointment that he's not with Momo.
Momo and Marui are already on the two lower bunks of the room they were sharing with Kuwahara, creating a dilemma for where to place him. They eventually settle for the floor by Marui.
"Ochibi~!" Kikumaru cries as he leaps from the bunk above Momo and latches around him like a monkey, making it difficult to breathe (let alone move). "Don't leave me here alone-- everyone's sleeping!"
"Who's keeping you in here with them?" Echizen grouses back.
"I'm surprised... They put me in here with Momo but you're with Oishi. I wonder what they're thinking."
"Who knows."
Echizen disentangles himself and leaves the room to find the one with his name. Right next door... That wasn't bad. Kikumaru made it sound like they were on opposite ends. Roommates: Sanada... Oishi... Tamagawa.
...Who was that?

Turning around, he scans the blue and white jerseys for someone who looks approachable. Spiky-hair with glasses and the drinks... Scary. Beady eyes and bandana, scowling... Scary. Pleasant smile and aura of pure murder... Scary. Wasn't there anyone who--
"Nya?" A finger poked his cheek and he nearly jumped out of his skin. Had he been so distracted?? The redhead roommate to Marui and Kuwahara started cackling. "You jumped like a cricket!"
"Eiji...!" One of them chided. "Don't make fun of him. He's probably anxious."
This was getting increasingly awkward. Tamagawa held up his hands and put on his biggest smile. "No, it's okay...! I-- I'm Tamagawa. Pleased to meet you."
"Kikumaru The Great!" The redhead winked, none humbled by the scolding. "And that's Oishi."
no subject
"No, that's why you should make fun of him... he needs to get used to it."
Tamagawa gets the once-over from Niou, who smiles.
"Tamagawa, this is the famous Golden Pair... Seigaku's least-bad doubles pair. I don't know what it means that Yagyuu and I beat them, but Bunta and Jackal didn't. What did you end up doing with Jackal, anyway?" He directed the last part to Echizen.
"And why don't I ever see the famous Echizen Ryoma playing doubles?"
no subject
Echizen unwraps the piece of gum he found on the floor by Marui's bed and pops it in his mouth. Niou isn't speaking very well of his senpai. Kikumaru in particular looks peeved.
"And why don't I ever see the famous Echizen Ryoma playing doubles?"
Echizen looks dead-eyed up at Niou over a green bubble, just long enough to acknowledge he's been asked a question, then casually heads for the stairs down with his hands in his pockets.
Eiji, meanwhile, puffs up like a chipmunk. "Least bad?? That's some nerve to say to the National Champions!"
no subject
Oh hey, is that Yagyuu over there? Whether it is or not, Niou's planted the seeds he wishes to see sprout, so each Golden boy gets a clap on the shoulder as he sidles on by.
Meanwhile, Momo groans, and opens his eyes.
"Why is Jackal-san on the floor?"
no subject
Tamagawa stood awkwardly among all of them. Niou was correct, of course. He was the only one here who hadn't played on the Nationals stage. Wasn't that what Marui had been trying to prepare him for, though? His lesson at Kingdom Court hadn't been for nothing; Tamagawa was determined to see to that.
"That's true. Of everyone here, I have the most to learn. Everyone, thank you for your participation! I look forward to training with you," he closed with a bow.
Hearing Momo beginning to stir, Fuji slipped into the dormitory, carefully sidestepping Jackal.
"Awake?"
no subject
He immediately blows past Tamagawa's group and into the room Akaya's sharing and takes a deep breath, before bellowing:
"WAKE UP!" Whatever Inui did seemed to be wearing off. (Where did Inui go, anyway? Ever since Fuji ran for the bushes...)
"You're not going to spend this entire session asleep! How dare you embarrass yourself in front of next year's opponents! How is Tamagawa supposed to rely on you? This is ridiculous! Stop slacking! Get on your feet and do something useful! How much time do you expect to waste on your beauty sleep?!"
Momo cringed in sympathy, and nodded at Fuji.
"Let's get these two up before Sanada-san comes in here," he whispered, giving Jackal a shake.
"What kind of leadership is this? This is unforgivable! Didn't you sleep last night? You ought to train extra late tonight to make up for this nonsense! I'll throw you down this mountain and make you climb up it again if you don't get a move on!"
Akaya groaned and shoved his head under the pillow.
"Five more minutes," he suggested, like he wasn't aware of where he was.
"Five more minutes? Five more minutes? What did you just say? You need to be showing a good face to Seigaku, they're here doing you a favor, the least you can do is be pleasant and sociable!" Sanada roared, finally striding across the room to overturn the mattress and dump his errant kouhai unceremoniously on the floor.

Two seconds pass, and the breathing shifts from the steady inhale of slumber to interested sniffs. Eyes slip open. Fuji greets them with a smile.
"Glad you're awake. You should get up quickly. Here--" and holds the stick in offering. Bunta looks confused, but accepts it without question and sits up to pop it in his mouth.
Kaidoh, aside from a brief look at Akaya as he protests Sanada's yelling, pays the vice-captain and his charge no visible attention. He has no business inserting himself into that, but privately agreed with Sanada. He focuses on unpacking his bag, straightening out any stray wrinkles from the folded clothes in his pack before placing them neatly in the dresser drawer.

"Not my fault whatever Akaya did while I was unconscious," he muttered.
Momo was about to make a joke but a shift in the air made him look up. Tezuka was striding down the hall with Yanagi, and Inui-senpai was matching Yanagi-san's pace almost too exactly, since Yanagi-san was the only one he could even pretend to hide behind. Momo couldn't clock why until he remembered Fuji-senpai was within striking distance-- which, for Fuji-senpai, was any distance.
He saw Yanagi give Inui a disdainful eyebrow raise, quietly destroying the illusion. He didn't exactly have Yanagi-san's ability to predict what people would say, but if he had to guess, Momo was thinking it was something along the lines of, At least have the dignity to stand by your actions, Sadaharu.
Sanada came out into the hallway next, looking expectant and guiding a red- and bleary-eyed Kirihara.
"Aaah, Tezuka-buchou!" Momo waved. "How's the agenda for the rest of the night?"
