Prince of Fire Emblem: Invitation
Showing up at work and his family's house unannounced after that huge going away event was the funniest thing Marui can remember in some time. Who'd have guessed all that partying was for only a week-long farewell? Naturally, they have to have another bash to celebrate their return. And there's one person in particular he wants to make sure will be there.
Now, where in the castle to find Lissa...
Now, where in the castle to find Lissa...

Lissa tried to talk to him, but he kept everything so surface level...
She paused at the bottom of the staircase, wondering what she should do next.
no subject
"Hello, Princess. I'm glad I found you. How's the situation with your brother?"
no subject
Persistence, though. A Cleric's job was healing. She thought of the Valentian holy woman on her journey, much further from home than Lissa was.

"I'm just the only one whose opinion he doesn't have to worry about," she said, a little self-deprecatingly.
no subject
Her answer is exactly the opposite of reality. Lissa's opinion matters more than anyone's to Yukimura. If he loses her, he's lost his world. It's not the sort of thing Marui can convince her of with words, though. She has to come to see it for herself.
Well, in the meantime, there's one sure fire cure to a mood like this. He starts strolling for the kitchen and glances over his shoulder.
"You comin'?"
no subject
"Guess so," she said, following without really looking where they were going.
It's not until they get close that she starts to smell the spices and things laying about, and perks up.
"You've barely been home a day, I can get Feli--"
She cuts herself off, glances both ways, and sighs.
"Well, okay. If you want to."

He washes up and heads straight for the freezer, where he pulls out several different flavors of ice cream.
"Also..."
He pauses deliberately, just for effect. For emphasis on where he's taking this conversation.
"It's a great warm-up for the batch I'm making for the party."
no subject
"Please make sure it's chocolatey enough. And strawberry-y enough. Actually, have you ever thought about making savory cakes for dinner? I was thinkin' about that the other day... maybe force it on Seiichi as a surprise!"
no subject
Anyway, Lissa's suggestion is... well it sure is something.
"Savory cake... no, wait, isn't that just a casserole?"
no subject
"But maybe I could make cup-casseroles for the soldiers when they go out next!"
no subject
Still, this conversation is taking an amusing turn. He grins.
"Cakes don't have pastry either."
no subject
"You're not seriously going to tell me there's a complex distinction between baked goods, are you? You bake and they're good, right?"
no subject
He hasn't forgotten the point of his coming to find her. This just... this is fun. It's happy. She's having fun and so is he. Also that ice cream is going to start melting if he doesn't get to work. He gets a couple of big bowls from the cupboard, a few bananas, a jar of chopped walnuts, and some other toppings.
no subject
"I hope this isn't bad news," she said, dropping a handful of spoons within Marui's reach. "Private sundaes seem a little too special."
no subject
"The only thing I have for you is an invitation."
no subject
She tried to laugh, but it didn't quite come out that way.
"Do you have one for Seiichi, too?"
no subject
"I'm thinking about this Friday at sunset. How about it? Can you make that?"
no subject
She involuntarily glanced up, vaguely in the direction of Seiichi's tower. Can't call her his sunshine and expect her not to fret about leaving him by himself.
"Maybe help me drag him along," she said under her breath.
no subject
"Don't worry, he won't miss this. You're the guest of honor, after all."

She wrung her hands. "I can't believe I got you thrown in jail!"
no subject
After a few moments, he calms himself down enough to look her in the eyes and say with warm frankness: "Where did you get this idea? I got me thrown in jail, Princess."
And if his tone is any indication, he'd do it again, without hesitating.
