Out of the Woods

The day's training had ended, and after enjoying a hot bath and a typically gargantuan dinner, it was finally time to kick back and enjoy a couple of hours of leisure time before bed. Maybe some table tennis? That tournament with Atobe and the others had been pretty fun. First though, he needs to pay a visit to the vending machines out by Court 2. He is dying for some red bean mochi, and that's the only one that has it!
The pickup itself is uneventful. Three boxes should be enough? Maybe just a couple more. Arms full, he's just managed two steps when he hears something on the other side of the perimeter wall. Rustling that sounds suspiciously like footsteps. Huh. Is it the dropped high schoolers' turn for a comeback tour? This was about where that secret entrance was, wasn't it? That's what Jackal said-- by Court 2.
He checks around; no sign of the dogs. There are a couple of lingering practicers, but they're preoccupied with the balls crossing the net. Marui takes his snacks and ducks around some hedges to a gap in the border fencing behind a sign with a map of the premises. He sees the beginning of a worn path that leads between two bushes. Slipping between them, seems it really is that easy to come and go if you know where to look.
He doesn't immediately see anyone, which is ... doubly odd. He knows he heard moving around out here. Was there someone here who didn't belong? The sensible decision was to turn back and maybe let the coaches know, but what could he even say to them? He heard something moving outside? In the middle of the mountains with wildlife everywhere? No shit-- now go back to your own business, kid. Is what they'd say. He doesn't need to be Yanagi to know that much.
If it's nothing, there's no harm taking a minute to look. If it's not nothing, someone needs to know about it. Either way, he ought to figure out what it is. So, onward ho!
