It's almost a pity for Yukimura to be losing consciousness soon. He and Azura are adding good context to the situation. So there was an attack earlier, but it was really more an attempt to help. The attack from Yukimura was self-defense, but from the dark magic that had integrated itself with him. There may be ways to keep it from taking over as much, but it was highly risky to attempt to separate them. That's why Yukimura wants him to start carrying that dagger. The implicit request: stay beside me. That much was always a given, figuratively at least.
